Contractor Expansion of Electrical Connectors

A technique is described whereby electrical edge connectors, which utilize .050" center lines between contactors, will continue to maintain the required center line distances, but will increase the number of contacts through a unique positioning of the contactors. The technique described herein essentially staggers the contactors at two different levels so as to maintain the .050" centerline requirement between adjacent contactors. The female section of the electrical edge connector, as shown in Fig. 1, shows how the contactors are staggered at two different levels. In prior art, a typical edge connector would contain thirty sockets at the front side 10 and thirty sockets at the back side 11. By staggering the contactors 12, the number of contactors are increased to a total of ninety.
