Abstract

System test cases and their input data have the requirement that they are repeatable and that the results are verifiable. Given these requirements and the normal resource constraints this usually results in a small number of test cases and input data being used over and over again during system test. This results in very limited actual testing of unique situations and conditions. The method of testing described below allows automatic generation of unique, repeatable, and verifiable test cases and input data. This method involves a testing system in which two or more communication applications can be used to test an Application Programming Interface (API) and/or the intervening system communications code. Each application program is able to generate valid calls over the entire range of function of an API.
