Abstract

A set of hardware circuits are described which allows a personal computer graphics printer to be used to get hard copy output from Tektronix Display Tubes. Hard copies of the picture on a Tektronix 614, 616, or 618 are normally generated on a Tektronix Hard Copy Unit (THCU). A good reproduction is generated in less than half a minute. (Image Omitted) Unfortunately, these hard copy units are often unavailable. A possible alternative would be to generate the picture on a PC printer since they are widely available. The PC Hard Copy Unit Emulator (PCHCE) converts the information from the tube's hard copy interface into a graphical print stream for the PC printer. This conversion requires special hardware since two analog signals must be generated.
