Abstract

The printed circuit (PC) input/output (I/O) tabs, e.g., tab 1, located on the planar surfaces 2 and near the edge 3 of double-sided PC board 4, are formed with parallel troughs or grooves 5. Each tab 1 mates with one of the spring contacts 6 (Fig. 2) of an edge-type zero insertion force (ZIF) connector. The contacts 6 produce a wiping action in the X direction when actuated by the actuator (not shown) of the ZIF connector. The troughs 5 collect the contaminants 7 (e.g., dust, particles, fibers, etc.) while tabs 1 still provide good electrical contact surfaces via their respective bridges 8 than would otherwise be the case if an integral surface tab (i.e., one without grooves 5) were used.
