Abstract

In toner replenishers utilizing a replenisher roll, a constant feed rate from the roll is controlled by a metering bar and a knock-off blade. To ensure this uniform flow, toner flow from the replenisher housing to the replenisher roll must also be uniform. A common problem in this area is the bridging and packing of toner in the replenisher housing. A replenisher design utilizing a wire form agitator is described which assures a constant rate of feed. (Image Omitted) Toner replenisher 10 (Fig. 1) consists of replenisher housing 11, replenisher roll 12, metering bar 13 and knock-off bar 14. A wire form part (agitator) 15 having wires approximately 0.125-inch in diameter spaced about 0.5-inch apart is positioned so that the wires lie lengthwise across the rear of the replenisher housing.
