Two locator slots on opposite ends of the leading edge of a side-entry printed circuit (PC) card co-act with a pair of aligned locator pins, each of which is mounted in a pair of edge type zero insertion force (ZIF) connectors. The slots and pins retain the card in the X and Y directions and restrain rotational movement of the card in the XY plane due to actuation of either or both ZIF connectors, thereby maintaining the ZIF contacts in register with the card input/output (I/O) tabs. PC card 10 has two parallel rows of staggered I/O tabs or pads 11 on opposite edges of its planar surface 10A.
