A method is described to synchronize Attachment Microcode (AM) and the Printer Microcode (PM) for active fonts and facilitate some tasks in a multi-font printer. This method relates to printers that can have more than one font active at a time. This allows the printer to print from more than one set of characters without having to physically exchange fonts and/or print head. The Attachment Microcode (AM) is almost always ahead of the Printer Microcode (PM). Therefore, a problem that is very likely to happen is that the fonts selected by the AM to print a text task may not be available at rasterizing time since the AM may no longer consider them active and delete them before they are used by the PM for printing.
