Abstract

A dovetail guide/clamping roll permits the operator to readily and reliably exchange the (prefabricated) flight time measuring rail and the platen bar without adjustments. If a platen bar is used for printer operation, the impact forces of print hammer 8 are transferred through the paper, the ribbon and the type band (not shown for simplicity) to platen bar 1. By a dovetail guide 2a at its lower region and clamping edge 3a of clamping roll 3 at its upper region, platen bar 1 is supported within element 2 on two surfaces 1a, inclined by 15o, and forced against surface 9. Two leaf springs 4, arranged between the first and the last print position, produce the clamping force along edge 3a by rotating clamping roll 3. Platen bar 1 is released by actuating (lever) edge 3a rigidly connected to clamping roll 3.
