Abstract

A method is described which permits diagnostic aid for initial communication problems experienced in establishing a connection. The IBM PC 3270 Emulation Program is a software package which allows the personal computer to emulate a 3274 control unit with an attached 3278 display and a 3287 printer in varying configurations facilitating standalone and network operation. The configurability and communications capabilities of PC 3270 Emulation make it useable and adaptable to many situations. The product attaches directly to a host using SDLC/SNA protocols or indirectly to a host via Distributed Function Terminal (DFT) attachment to a 3274 control unit.
