Abstract

The serial printer port of an ASCII terminal has lines for both transmit and receive. Several ASCII terminals can share a printer by connecting the lines to different terminals. The transmit lines of terminal n are connected with the receive lines of terminal (n-1), and the receive lines of terminal n are connected with the transmit lines of terminal-(n+1). The transmit lines of terminal 1 are connected with the printer (Fig. 1).
