Variable Capacity Multi-Product Container

A container has been developed for transporting fired multilayer ceramic (MLC) substrates used in semiconductor devices. A multi- purpose nesting plastic assembly is used to contain trays of substrates which are, in turn, nested in a larger shipping container. The packaging system has to securely protect a wide range of product sizes from damage during handling. (Image Omitted) The variable capacity multi-product container (VCMPC) was developed to provide a secure and efficient means of shipping MLC products. The outer container 1 (Fig 1) is a large plastic vessel with a synthetic gasket located between the hinged top 2 and the base 3. A vacuum-formed plastic tray 4 is mounted on top of shock absorbing foam 5 in the bottom of the container.
