One of the difficulties in producing spools of ribbon is the problem of loading a multiplicity of ribbon take-up spools on a shaft quickly and efficiently. The apparatus disclosed accomplishes this. The apparatus disclosed consists of two items: an automated loader 1 and a bullet nose shaft adapter 2. The automated loader 1 consists of a valley-shaped apparatus having pair magazine storage sections 3 fed by vibratory loaders 4. From each of the magazines, a series of parallelly-arranged spiral channels 5 lead down towards a loading trough 6. In operation, the vibratory loaders feed friction disks 7 to one magazine storage section and spools 8 to another. The disks and spools are fed in the horizontal position into the magazines.
