An adjustable tension drive band mount is described that allows for the precise adjustment of the tension in the head/carriage actuator drive band of a storage device. This precise adjustment of the drive band tension is required to maintain the level of performance in the head/carriage motion. The motion of the head/carriage assembly is required to meet the track densities and the track following performance needed and used by 3.5 "disk drives", for example. Other drive band designs use a spring-tensioning device which can allow the drive band tension to vary a significant amount, or are hard mounted at both ends, and require very tight tolerances to maintain the precise tension in the drive band.
