Abstract

Plastic toothed wedge tool 10 has uniformly-spaced plural wedge teeth 11 depending from their common handle or gripper member 12. Tool 10 is particularly useful in separating in-line connector assemblies, such as the right angle pin connector 20 (shown mounted to the printed circuit board (PCB)) and the mating wire connector receptacle 30. In operation, with the aid of member 12, the teeth 11 are inserted between the interface of the respective insulative housings 21 and 31 of the mated connector 20 and receptacle 30. As the tool 10 is pushed towards the interface, the housings 21 and 31 move away from each other in a relative manner, thereby dislodging/disconnecting the pins 22 of connector 20 from the terminals (not shown) of receptacle 30.
