Thermally Compensated Head Disk Assembly Frame for Rotary Actuator Disk Files

In rotary actuator disk files the rotary actuator shaft and the disk drive spindle are mounted on a single base plate or in a unitary frame. Temperature changes in the base plate or frame cause distortion of the actuator shaft axis and spindle axis relative to one another. This results in track misregistration (TMR) of the read/write heads, which are mounted on the rotatable actuator arm, relative to the data recording tracks on the disks, which rotate about the spindle axis.
