Zero Insertion Force Contact Socket

This article describes a zero insertion force contact socket for ICs which ensures good contact, is easy to actuate by hand and readily serviceable. The figure is a perspective of contact socket 1 in the opened state. In this state, lever 3, connected to an eccentric shaft 2, is in its upper position. Likewise in the opened state of contact socket 1, eccentric shaft 2 forces supports 4 for the sample and thus contact springs 5 slightly to the outside, so that the sample can be readily inserted into the socket. In the illustrated position of lever 3, a contact spring guide, provided on the back side of contact springs 5, is also moved slightly to the outside against the force of two screw- shaped pressure springs, arranged on the guide's back side.
