This device is substituted for an edge-type connector in a packaging system when the electrical connections provided by the connector, and hence the connector, are not required to be used in the system, i.e., are inactive, but it is desired to provide some of the mechanical features of the connector. As such, the device obviates the need for an active connector, thereby producing a concomitant reduction in expense and mitigation of potential damage, which would be the case if an active and/or dummy connector were to be used. It is particularly useful in certain card on board (COB) packaging systems where the connector interconnects the card to the board.
