A method is described to implement the Erase-to-End-of-Line function in a parametric menu option or other data prompt. The Erase-to-End-of-Line function in a data prompt erases all characters beginning with, and to the right of, the cursored character. A parametric menu option is one form of data prompt. The new method for implementing the editing function is applicable to either L3P or RFT:DCA text. These two datastream systems are generally compatible, and their differences do not affect the method described here. Even though the DisplayWrite 4* (DW4) Menu Manager handles L3P text only, it employs the method described which is applicable to RFT:DCA, the datastream which is becoming the interchange standard for office systems.
