Abstract

This article describes a plating fixture (rack) for use with a jet plater for depositing metallurgy on substrates. The disclosed design provides for a more even distribution of plating materials used in normal electro and electroless plating. Plating chemicals are sprayed against the plate up fixture and substrate. These are maintained in a horizontal position atop the jet plater, as shown in the figure. The substrate 2 is held under pressure by the cover plate assembly 1, the bottom layer of which is a stainless steel thief (by reason of its electrical potential through contact spring 3 to attract the plating chemicals). Electrical contact with the substrate is made by means of the lower conductive (both faces) rubber seal 4, which is connected to a variable power source 6 by means of the contact spring 7 and rod 8.
