A method is described which provides support of a product or architecture with no regard to the unique requirements of any specific language group. The Revision Text Object Content Architecture (RTOCA) has provided the capability of specifying to the text processor that the text contained within the object includes only those controls which are supported by a specific National Language Group (NLG). These groups are identified as: Left-to-Right, Right-to-Left and Double Byte Character Set. The functions or controls supported by each National Language Group must be defined. The definition of the interchange sets must be done in cooperation with each country in each group. Obviously, not all countries in a NLG will support the entire set; therefore, a further subdivision can be made by the country and language.
