Abstract

A technique is described whereby a device detector, as used in conjunction with an analog signal tester, is connected to a graphics display adapter, so as to provide a method of detecting either a color display, monochrome display or no display. Display detection is based on the use of termination resistors located at the output of video drivers and at the display. Detection of the proper device is necessary so as to automatically provide proper testing functions as required to test the appropriate display. The display detection is based on the termination resistors R2, as shown in Fig. 1, located at the output of the digital to analog converter (DAC) and by termination resistors R1 located in the display device.
