This article describes a board mount digital input (DIN) connector which provides protection of both electrical components and personnel by placing a fuse in a female board mount DIN connector. (Image Omitted) Conventionally, the protection feature is handled by using a fuse soldered into the molded end of the cable DIN connector. Also, in some instances card/board layout work is being done to install fuses in the card/board. In the connector disclosed herein, the fuse is replaceable. This connector can replace a non-fused connector and no card re-layout is required. The drawings illustrate one style of connector which utilizes the concept of this disclosure. However, any type of connector that may be used for cabling power to other devices may utilize this concept. Figs.
