This article describes interchangeable stacking plates which allow hardfile commodity integration of half high 5-1/4" as well as 3-1/2" configurations into a personal computer (PC) base frame and covers. Hardfile stacking plates utilize existing mounting holes in 5-1/4" half high hardfiles and 3-1/2" hardfile tray assemblies to stack and fasten two such devices, or combinations containing a blank tray assembly, into a single self-contained assembly. The assembly remains within the predefined PC base frame opening and compartmentalized envelope, as shown in the drawing.
