In a passbook printer having an auto turn page (ATP) feature in which a passbook page is automatically turned for printing transactions on the next page when the current page is printed over and some transactions to be printed still remain, a rotating ATP roller is brought into contact with the page at a position depending on the thickness or persistence of the page to turn it over without turning multiple pages. (Image Omitted) Referring to the drawings which show the steps of turning a page in the sequence of Fig. 1 to Fig. 8, first the page of the passbook to be turned over is positioned so that the ATP roller, when down, can come into contact with the page at the position of the predetermined distance l from the seam of the passbook.
