By allowing the user to select invalid choices, causing a message to be displayed, the user can learn why the choice is invalid and what to do to make the choice valid. This will make a system easier to learn, easier to use and more productive. Current systems typically implement various forms of valid and invalid choice indication. For example, one known system presents menus of choices in which the choices that are currently valid are presented in black letters on a white background while the choices that are not currently valid are presented in gray text. However, the user is not allowed to select "grayed" choices and has no way of knowing why the choice is not valid or what to do to make it valid. The proposed method allows the user to simply select "grayed" choices like any other choices.
