Abstract

The VMX software described in the two preceding articles has been enhanced by adding the ability for the user to specify a target volume and "time to get there" and have the VMX software perform the "fade" automatically. For this discussion, we define the following terms: Current Volume is the current total signal level in user units and is maintained by the VMX software. Target Volume is the volume (total signal level) in user units that the user desires to be reached in the specified time. Target volume is set by the user and is not changed by the VMX software. Time To Get There is the time in some user units (e.g., 1/10 seconds) that the user desires the fade to take (i.e., the fade from the current volume to the target volume will take "time to get there" units of time).
