Dual Electrophotographic Printers With Two-Cycle Electrophotographic Process and Shared Controller

A common controller is configured to drive a single electrophotographic (EP) printer which can operate in either single- or two-cycle modes, or two printers both of which utilize the two-cycle EP process. Two-cycle xerographic printers typically function so that during the first complete revolution of the photoconductor belt or drum, normal xerographic imaging and image development occur; cleaning of the photoconductor occurs during the second revolution. The cleaning cycle is enabled or augmented by any of a variety of selectively actuable EP elements, such as by controlling the state and/or level of the magnetic brush bias, charge corona, pre-clean corona, and erase lamp.
