High Performance Functional CMOS Driver

The article describes a circuit which uses complementary metal-oxide semiconductor (CMOS) technology to provide a high performance functional driver with a Hi-Z capability and a programmable drain terminator. The circuit design minimizes the required circuitry to reduce component count and block delays. The driver has a uniform path (Image Omitted) for signal flow regardless of driver state. The control and data circuitry are separate to add to driver flexibility. The driver has a functional input stage for application flexability. The circuit has Hi-Z capability which can be used for multi-driver bus applications, and a programmable drain terminator which can be used to match load or transmission line impedances.
