Abstract

An audio editor system is shown which provides for full function digital audio editing on a personal computer (PC). Since the editing system needs to run standalone (e.g., in an audio capture and editing- only environment) and in a dual-machine environment (e.g., full audio visual computer (AVC) operation with all of the AVC editors) it has been implemented to accommodate either of these two environments. The basic structure of the audio editor system is designed to accommodate this initial editor as well as provide for a growth path for future extensions to eventually reach the goal of the full function editor (e.g., multi-channel mixing). In the two-machine environment the "Audio Processor" (audio signal processor and associated micro code) runs in the second machine while the editor runs in the first machine.
