Abstract

This article describes a keying assembly that can be attached to adjacent wiring receptacles to differentiate shapes between different types of data transmission systems. The keying assembly includes a face plate polarizer with polarizing slots and data connector polarizer with polarizing blades. The slots and the blades are tailored so that only face plate polarizers and data connector polarizers from the same wiring system will mate and connect a device to a transmission system. With reference to Fig. 1, a face plate polarizer 8, having polarizing slots 10 and 12, is mounted to face plate 14. Face plate 14 (Image Omitted) carries a plurality of contact terminals (not shown) for mating with similar contact terminals 10 and data connector 16.
