There is a requirement to generate display panels and messages for a computer program in several national languages. This is usually done by sending a list of the texts for translation either to the country involved or to a translation agency. In either case the person performing the translation cannot see and interact with the panels and messages that he or she is translating, which can lead to incorrect translations or text that does not fit the space available. In this invention program the display of the panels and messages is handled by a panel processor program. The input to this processor is a panel definition, which is an array specifying the location, color, properties and text of all fields making up the panel, or message. These definitions could be stored in a separate file for each national language.
