Abstract

The final operation in the automated production of a known wire matrix printhead is the assembly together of a wireguide, containing the print wires, and a subassembly containing the print magnets and print wire actuator armature arms. The workscope of this operation is illustrated in Fig. 1. Here, it is seen that Wireguide 1 and Magnet Subassembly 2 are assembled together by Screw 5 which passes through a clearance hole (Image Omitted) in Stator Plate 6 into a threaded hole in the center of Wireguide 1. The pre-alignment of Armature Arms 3 so they seat in Slots 4, as the two subassemblies are brought together, is a major requirement of this final operation.
