Print Coil Height Checking Device

In the printhead for a wire printer it is critical for the top of the print coil to be lower than the face of the stator by a specific minimum dimension. The present embodiment of a Height Checking Device measures that dimension and marks those coils which are too high. Marked coils are then manually replaced. (Image Omitted) Fig. 1 shows the printhead subassembly checked by this device. It consists of print coils 1 installed on stators mounted in a ring on stator plate 2 and assembled with PC card 3. Fig. 2 is a cross-sectional view of one magnet position showing the dimension 6 to be measured, which is the difference in height between the top of coil 1 and the face of the stator 5.
