Each of a plurality of pin units or modules mounted on a movable printhead for a shuttle printer is designed to have an improved pin arrangement so that the outermost pins on horizontally adjacent pin modules are positioned as close as possible when the pin modules are assembled in the printhead. That is, a boundary position of each pair of adjacent pin modules is changed to a middle position from the conventional edge position of a single slant line arrangement of pins in a pin module, while maintaining a conventional slant and serrated pin arrangement on a plurality of pin modules. Shifting the positioning relation between a pair of upper and lower pin arrangements may also be incorporated so that the vertically innermost pins on upper and lower pin modules are juxtaposed to each other.
