A method is described to provide context-sensitive information to the personal computer user without screen clutter. Fig. 1. illustrates the information automatically displayed when the cursor is positioned on Object 1. No information is displayed for Objects 2 through m. Fig. 2 illustrates the automatic display of information when the cursor is positioned on Object 2. No information is displayed for Objects 1 and 3 through m. This dynamic informational text is positioned such that the first line of the description occurs on the line at which the cursor is positioned.
