Clinch Tool/X-Y Table

For fixing the position of components to be mounted on boards, the connectors protruding from the bottom side of the boards are bent or clinched during mounting. Synchronously with the mounting robot, clinch tool 1 is positioned by means of X-Y table 2 below board 3 where the component is to be mounted. The different raster dimensions are covered by one clinch jaw 4 for each raster dimension. Clinch tool 1, which is capable of accommodating six clinch jaws 4, performs a stroke in the vertical direction. The X-Y table is provided with two carriers which are driven by two pneumatic cylinders. These cylinders may be arbitrarily positioned along the length of the carriers and are controlled by computer-monitored servo valves, displacement measuring systems and axial control means.
