Abstract

This arrangement provides a spring-biased sensor pin which senses the position of a printed circuit (PC) card in a zero insertion force (ZIF) connector and, if the card is improperly positioned, it prevents the actuation of the ZIF connector. Referring to Fig. 1, a blunt-nosed plunger or pin 1 is contained in an opening 3 in the ZIF connector body B and retained in the openings by a concentric apertured plug 5. A spring 7 biases plunger 1 so that plunger 1 protrudes into the card slot 9 in the connector body with just enough force to maintain plunger 1 in the position shown. The connector actuator cam 11 is shown in its open or deactuated position with a through hole or opening 13 in line with or registered with the plunger 1.
