Loading the Program Constant Table for a Technician Terminal
Original Publication Date: 1988-Jul-01
Included in the Prior Art Database: 2005-Feb-15
This disclosure concerns a technique for loading the program constant table (PCT) for the IBM 5126 technician terminal. The PCT is used in connection with the probe attachment card that receives data from a vehicle attached at the end of a probe cable. It must be loaded by programming systems. The PCT is coded in the program system code. Whenever a change is made to the PCT, program systems must release new code to reflect the change. In the technique disclosed herein, the PCT is placed at the end of the engineering change (EC) file. The EC file is released in a manner that does not affect the code in the program system area. Now, whenever a change is made in the PCT, it will not affect the code written by programming systems. The PCT has its own header that indicates the size, date, level and the program name.
