COMBINED VIDEO/HORIZONTAL SYNC PROTECTION/DETECTION CIRCUIT

This article describes a circuit arrangement which provides protection and detection of high speed video lines against automotive faults combined into one circuit. Video and horizontal sync (HSYNC) signals use identical drive circuits. Accordingly, only the video circuit will be described in detail. It should be understood, however, that the description also applies to the horizontal sync signal. Fig. 1 is a circuit diagram showing the generation of the video and HSYNC signals. The inputs that create the video signal are sent to module U1, which has two sets of four tri-state inverting drivers. Each set of drivers is controlled by an enable pin, which will tri-state the outputs when high. Each of the four inputs and outputs within a set is tied together.
