Improved Method for Print Head Speed Specification for Voltage-Driven Motor Control Systems

This invention relates to a method for optimizing print head speed based on the distance that is left to be traversed by the print head to the stopping position. This optimization is based on a print head speed table look-up that is located in the software of the printer's microprocessor. This eliminates the need to inefficiently calculate the desired print head speed with a substantial amount of computer time and power. Upon initialization of the printer, the microprocessor recognizes the initial distance from where the print head will begin its movement to the stopping position. The user supplies a specific print head move speed. The microprocessor divides the initial distance by two and one half (2.5) to get a first distance.
