Capacitively-Coupled TFT/LCD With Minimized Parasitic Effects

Thin film transistor liquid crystal displays (TFT/LCDs) require high process yield and good gray scale performance. Current designs require large crossover areas or extra processing steps or include parasitic elements affecting gray scale performance. A design is presented below that avoids these difficulties in an improved manner relative to previous designs. STATEMENT OF PROBLEM A design for a TFT/LCD is presented which minimizes the impact of parasitic elements on gray scale performance while also minimizing the number of off-glass connections. These advantages allow easier fabrication and operation of large area TFT/LCDs with gray scale capability that would be useful for computer display applications.
