The FCC requires electromagnetic interference (EMI) certification/verification of certain electronic cards and peripheral equipment. Important test decisions need to be made addressing such parameters as test system type, system availability, test configuration, and system/card sample sizes. A process to test input/output peripheral devices (I/Os) which considers all the above constraints, including the availability of only one test system, is described. One system type with a configuration which has had historically the highest emission levels at the host is selected. The emission levels caused by the positioning of the peripheral devices is maximized. A process to do this is: a.
