MESFET Differential Current Switch Comparator Circuit

A technique is described whereby a MESFET differential current switch comparator circuit provides a means to enhance the operational gain by employing positive feedback. It also provides a means to improve noise margins or to implement a high-speed comparator circuit. Typically, differential current switch (DCS) circuits are well suited for certain logic functions, particularly latches, Exclusive-Or gates and important analog functions, such as receiver circuits, as used in fiber optic communication links. When used in analog circuitry, the analog voltage must be converted to a logic signal and is typically accomplished by means of a comparator circuit.
