Enhancing "No Operation" Logic Signals in Multi-Module Space Switches

A technique is described whereby "no operation" (NOP) logic signals are enhanced in high-speed switching circuit modules to ensure the accuracy of switching functions. The concept provides enhanced error detection and fault isolation capability in high-speed multi-module space switching circuitry which use NOP codeword functions. In the construction of a multi-module space switch, a large N by N space switch is typically fabricated by interconnecting multiple small n by n switch modules for N > n. One approach is the squared expansion of the space switch, as shown in Fig. 1. Each input port of a large switch has the connection of the corresponding input port of switch modules located in the same row.
