Abstract

The compensator is a tracking analog-to-digital (A/D) converter . With an analog voltage present on either pins +ESTBS, +VEL, or +POS, an equivalent digital value can be acquired at +U BUS. This operation is dependent on the states of other logic signals going into the device. The analog input stage of the device consists of three analog inputs, +ESTBS, +VEL, and +POS. Any one of these can be selected by forcing a logic low level on the corresponding select pin, -SMPBS, -SMPVL, or -SMPPS. At no time should more than one input signal be selected. When selected, an input signal is connected to a programmable gain stage. The programmable gain stage amplifies the input signal either by one or by four depending on the state of the -1X input.
