This article describes new dictionary look-up mechanism. By using this mechanism, a user can look up a dictionary with idioms and useful symbols. The conventional dictionary look-up function provides only the word keys and domain keys. Such keys are useful only when users recognize the key word. On the other hand, in the translation environment, it is needed to provide the good translation examples on the computer display screen. But generally, it is impossible to determine the key word for translation examples because in the translation environment a user wants to know, not only the equivalent word, but also the translation technique, i.e., idioms, aspect, modal etc. This mechanism provides these various dictionary look-up methods. The drawing shows the flow chart of this mechanism.
