A Macro range function provides the capability to define an "applicability scope" for a set of parameters passed as input values to an invoked macro. The extended macro range function of a macro invocation identifies, by name, an ending macro invocation. This "applicability scope" includes all data stream elements existing between the invoked macro definition and the identified ending macro definition. Any parameters passed by the macro invocation remain in effect as current state values until the identified ending macro invocation is completed unless overridden by nested macro invocations having LIKE parameters existing within the named scope. For example: STEP DATA STREAM 1. Include Macro (Begin A) (Terminate with E) (Parameters) . . 2.
