Abstract

In a spring-charged-type wire matrix printhead, a disc-shaped residual with radial slits is provided on tapered pole faces, and a ring-shaped spacer is provided at the root of a disc-shaped leaf spring. The residual and the spacer made from resin films minimize rebound of a spring/armature assembly and result in high quality printing through the head life. (Image Omitted) Fig. 1 shows an exploded simplified view of a printhead. Fig. 2 shows a sectional view of the printhead. Fig. 3 shows a sectional view of an alternative printhead wherein an armature is fixed on the reverse surface of a leaf spring. Each pole face 1 is ground in a tapered fashion so that the pole face 1 contacts with the wider surface of a leaf spring 2 in Fig. 2 or that of an armature 3 in Fig.
