In a xerographic printer having two removable, cut sheet, paper cassettes from which a sheet of paper is fed to the printer's toner transfer station under microprocessor program control and selection, one of the cassettes (the lower one) can be replaced by sheet bypass cassette of unique construction. This bypass cassette enables the operator to manually insert sheets of different lengths, so that the sheet resident in the bypass cassette may be fed to the transfer station under program control. The beam strength of the bypass sheet is utilized to insure reliable friction feeding of the sheet. Bypass sheets may be sheets of a different color, or preprinted letterhead sheets, for example. The term sheets as used herein is intended to include other media, such as envelopes. (Image Omitted) Fig.
