The present method provides the capabilities of protection, recovery and assurance of data in a Non-Volatile Memory (NVM) only by micro programs. The primary points of this method are as follows: . TWO NVMS ARE PROVIDED IN DIFFERENT HARDWARE. . BOTH NVMS HAVE THE SAME DATA INCLUDING CHECK SUM BYTE. . THREE KINDS OF ERROR FLAGS ARE USED FOR ERROR DISCRIMINATION AND FOR ERROR RECOVERY. When any trouble, such as a hardware logic failure, a device element failure or a writing failure, occurs in an active machine, which may lead to the loss of data in either one of NVMs, one NVM which may have the lost data is rewritten to match the data in the other NVM which is not affected by the trouble. A message corresponding to the error which occurred is displayed by utilizing the error flags. Fig.
